Repair Service
Do not store fuel for more than one season
or 4 months. It degrades very quickly. Much quicker than just
a few years ago.
We highly recommend the use of non-ethanol fuel
in your seasonal equipment. Fuel systems in power equipment are not
sealed from the air like in automobiles. Since they are not sealed, the
ethanol in fuel attracts moisture from the air. Moisture in the fuel
system corrodes the parts leading to expensive repairs. Most gas stations
have one pump with non-ethanol fuel.
This problem is most prevalent in snow blowers stored over the summer
because of high temperatures High temps cause gas to degrade faster and
also speeds up the corrosion process. Especially in storage sheds or in
direct sun where the temperatures can get higher than normal.
For summer storage for your snow blower either run it out of fuel so the
tank and carb are empty of fuel -
- or follow the steps below to add stabilizer.
-
Drain most of
the fuel from the tank.
-
Get
fresh fuel from the gas station. Add fuel stabilizer to the fresh gas.
( Adding stabilizer to old fuel does not work. Fuel more than 30 days
old is not fresh fuel )
-
Fill the snow
blower tank to about 90% with fresh gas/stabilizer. Do not fill to the
top. Leave about an inch for expansion so it doesn't overflow when it
gets hot this summer.
-
Run the engine
for 15 minutes to get the fresh gas into the carburetor.
Now your snow blower will be better protected for summer storage and will
start easier next fall. -----------------------------------------
